The Cartagena Chamber of Commerce and its president, Miguel Martínez, have been the last to join the "Enrólate" campaign.
This initiative has been launched on the occasion of the IX Carburo de Plata solidarity race.
Its main objective is to give visibility to the rare diseases and to support the people who suffer them.
To date, only in the Region of Cartagena, 8% of the population has been affected by some type of rare disease.
Miguel Martínez has expressed the responsibility of the institutions to work for "a more just society" and the honor that the Cartagena Chamber of Commerce is supposed to support a solidarity event such as the Carburo de Plata regatta.
For his part, Blas Isaac, president of the Portman Yacht Club, thanked the Chamber of Commerce for its support in this case, which seeks to raise the necessary funds to open a multidisciplinary center for people with rare diseases in Cartagena.
D'Genes is the association to which will be destined the funds raised in the IX solidarity race Carburo de Plata.
At the moment, it has the reference center of the Region, "Celia Carrión Pérez de Tudela", for the multidisciplinary attention to people with rare diseases that is located in Totana.
Likewise, it is planned that in the coming months another center will open in the city of Murcia that will receive the name "Pilar Bernal Jiménez".
To date, more than 130 people with 85 typologies of rare diseases are present.
The Carburo de Plata solidarity race, which will be held on 2, 3 and 4 June and which will have the participation of more than 80 boats and 500 crew, has consolidated in the regional and national panorama as a sporting event of first level , But also stands out for its marked solidarity objective.
Since the first edition, this sporting event has donated more than 36,000 euros to non-profit associations working for a fairer society.
