Garcia has stated that since June 2015, the municipal government has managed to write off more than 55 million euros, resulting in a 40% difference in the percentage of "consolidated living debt".
This means, explained the councilor, that while previous managers left a debt of 74% of the annual budget, it currently stands at around 34%.
"In addition we pay the suppliers to 16 days, which also contributes to the economic dynamization of the municipality."
The mayor considers that this management, has allowed that the year 2017 is configured as the consolidation and enhancement of investment.
"Faced with the years of the crisis in which the local executive raised taxes to pay their bills in the drawers and loans that gripped municipal finances, since 2015 have been reduced taxes and progressively increased investment throughout the municipality," he said. García.
Most of the investment, since June 2015, has gone to neighborhoods and councils, according to the councilor.
"We are aware that all the neighbors of Cartagena deserve more, and the abandonment they have endured in this decade, but we can not stop paying the debts, to which we are forced by law and responsibility," he said.
"What we can do is to clean up the municipal coffers in 2 years and start the investment plan for the most ambitious and participative municipality in the history of Cartagena, and we do it despite the inheritance received and without the benefits of the port Which go outside Cartagena and with little and insufficient support from the regional budget, "he concluded.
