This morning, Councilor for Culture and Heritage, Ricardo Segado, the director of the Quality of Life area, Francisco Calderón, and the municipal coordinator of Historical and Archaeological Heritage, María del Carmen Berrocal, held a meeting with representatives of the Administrative Board of the municipal cemetery of Our Lady of Los Remedios (Santa Lucia), among which was its president, Manuel Martínez.
The meeting was held in the administrative building of San Miguel and has passed in a climate of cordiality and collaboration.
The purpose of this has been to lay the foundations for an inventory to diagnose the patrimonial elements that are found in the cemetery and which are susceptible of being preserved.
It is a question of elaborating a document that is shaped like the support that guarantees the adhesion of the cartagenero cemetery to the European Route of Cemeteries, as it determined a plenary mandate.
Agreement that was quickly assumed by the local Executive, meeting with a series of administrative procedures to complete.
This work will result in a thorough knowledge of what is in the cemetery of Santa Lucia to draw conclusions, both general and particular, as well as the guidelines to follow to facilitate the visit to stakeholders.
For this, it is considered essential to have a precise assessment of what needs to be protected.
The work to be carried out will cover the cemetery as a whole and will have to decipher the distorting elements that are next to the graves, burials, sculptures, etc.
It will also establish the protection environment and perimeter.
The members of the Administrative Board of the municipal cemetery of Santa Lucía have shown their willingness to collaborate in this objective and to advance in a joint work that reveals the rich heritage and cemetery that shelters this corner of the municipality.
