This morning the prizes of the II Contest of Embellishment of Balconies and Facades of Holy Week, convened by the Association of Women Cofrades with the collaboration of the City Council of Cartagena, have been presented.

The participants have received their awards from the Councilor for Culture, David Martinez, and the president of the Association of Women Cofrades, María Victoria Botí.

The winner of this edition, which was announced last April, has been decorated balcony and presented to competition by Antonio Nicolás, in the Plaza del Risueño.

The first prize of this competition, which aimed to "enhance the charm of the streets during the celebration of Holy Week" reports the association in the bases, is endowed with 250 euros.

The second prize of this second edition has also been awarded, corresponding to the decoration of Dolores Rubio, the two accésit to the balconies of Ismael Negroles and José María Alcalde, and diploma accrediting the participation to all participants who have attended the event.

Martinez said he was very happy "with the participation that has been" and wanted to thank the effort of all the participants.

He has also invited all those who have not participated in the contest but have decorated their balconies and their façades to participate next year.

"The idea is that the balconies of the city look the best possible in the big week of Cartagena in which receives so much influx of tourists, and that better to collaborate in which looks the best way in those days" has considered The councilman.

For its part, the president of the organizing association has appreciated that, although this year there were fewer participants, the decision of the judges has been very difficult because "there was much quality both material and design of the balconies and facades presented" .
