CTSSP - PODEMOS filed today a brief for the lodging of a Contentious Administrative Appeal against the dismissal for administrative silence of the request for review of the agreement of the Plenum of the City of Cartagena dated November 12, 2003 in which it was approved the modification of the concession contract of The services of Water Supply and Sanitation, signed with the mercantile AQUAGEST, now called HIDROGEA.
The group considers that this agreement, which extends the concession until the year 2042, is null and void.
Despite the fact that the two parties that now govern the City Council took this issue in their electoral programs, the Government has twice rejected that request: first voting against a motion of CTSSP (in February 2016) and secondly dismissing their demand In administrative route before the City council (presented in May of this same year).
For We are incomprehensible these actions, therefore exhausted all the ways, and proving that there is null political will on the part of the new Government, our group goes to the courts in defense of the general interest and waiting for the Justice to annul what we consider that it is a Illegal contract
Both the spokeswoman of the municipal group CTSSP Pilar Marcos and the deputy for the Region of Murcia, María Giménez, have highlighted at the exit of the courts that:
"We can not only believe that this contract is null and void, but also denounce the behavior of the company, which has been repeatedly misusing the City Council, which has been denying information to technicians and providing an expensive and poor service, just as it happens In other parts of Spain.
In order to put an end to this abusive situation, we have asked in countless occasions that the water happens to be considered a tax, that the accounts of the company are audited and included in the Municipal Budget.
We believe it is indispensable, after 20 years of mismanagement of the PP, that the City Council supervise at all times the fulfillment of the contract by the company.
From PODEMOS we also oppose that a common good that is indispensable for life can be in the hands of a monopoly, two or three companies that make it a business and whose main objective is to earn money at the expense of something that is everyone's .
We believe in the public management of water and we are convinced that we must rescue the service and manage it entirely from the City Council, with transparency, democracy and participation, under social and sustainability criteria, as they are doing in much of Europe and in many Spanish municipalities ".
