One hundred researchers in quantum technologies from twenty countries meet at the UPCT (08/05/2017)

On Monday, UPCT began a conference on quantum technology, which has the presence of more than 100 researchers from more than twenty different countries.

This is the third edition of these days that have been celebrated biannually by the University and which are widely recognized at the international level.

The New Trends in Complex Quantum Systems day is held throughout the week, from Monday 8 to Friday 12. It covers research topics in quantum technology, quantum control, relativistic quantum information, quantum biology and Quantum cryptography among others.

Among the invited speakers on this occasion are Artur Ekert, one of the inventors of quantum cryptography;

Ivette Fuentes, whose field of study is relativistic quantum information;

And Jörg Schmiedmayer, who stands out for his experiments with ultra-cold atoms, among other researchers.

"In recent years," said professor of applied physics and responsible for the conference, Javier Prior, "there has been a rapid development of different quantum devices, theoretical models and numerical tools that have taught us the way to unprecedented new research In the field of quantum science and in particular in the study of complex quantum systems out of equilibrium. "

"The title of the conference defines its character, since we try to make the topics reflect those aspects that are most outstanding in the last two years, thus contributing to the promotion of new lines of research," says Prior.

"For the development of this new technological revolution that we approach, it is important that experts from different countries come together to talk and exchange ideas promoting new lines of research and platforms from which to address these new issues before us."

The European Commission, echoing these developments and being aware that two-thirds of the gross domestic product of the developed economies are based on technologies related to quantum physics, has launched a specific program of investment in quantum technologies "Flagship on quantum technologies "To which it will allocate from next year a total of 1000 million euros.
