The mayor of Cartagena, Jose López, has received this Friday the more than one hundred volunteers of the IES Isaac Peral and the Santa Maria Micaela school (Adoratrices) participating in the meeting held on this same day, from 9:30 a.m. , On the occasion of the European Youth Week, which this year corresponds to the week of 2 to 9 May.
The first mayor has dedicated in the hall of the Palace Hall a few words to the group of students, who has come accompanied by four of his teachers, in which he congratulated them for the work they are doing.
In his speech, Lopez has influenced the European feeling and the advantages of remaining in the Union and the need to know the rights and obligations that this gives each citizen.
Along the same lines, the mayor has lamented the rise of the movements that seek to dismember this community and has decided to eliminate frontiers as well as to open the minds of people towards a more tolerant society, inspired by the values ​​of the European Week of Youth and the European Union itself.
This activity forms part of those planned by the Youth Department through the Mobility Space of the Young Space on the occasion of the celebration of a new edition of the European Youth Week (SEJ 2017) which is celebrated throughout Europe during the first week of May.
Throughout the week and under the slogan 'Create your future, launch yourself, live it' have been held debates and various activities in the thirty-three countries participating in Erasmus + and for this, in Cartagena have organized different initiatives between the days 2 and 9 May;
Workshops on European citizenship, information sessions on the European Solidarity Corps, competitions to test how much is known about Europe ... European volunteers have also prepared something special for their projects in the Book Botika or the Language Exchange.
With the collaboration of Europe Direct Region of Murcia, the Eurodesk Network, ESN Cartagena and the volunteers of Implica2, the Youth Council has taken to the streets this European Youth Week with the objective of promoting the social and solidarity commitment of the Young people, disseminating the Erasmus + program and celebrating its 30th anniversary, and listening to the ideas of young people on how to shape the future of European Union youth policies.
