On Saturday, April 29, the Rugby Field of the Asomada hosted the third edition of the Rugby Tournament 10, which involved 230 athletes belonging to six teams in the female category and six in the men's category.
The sets came from San Javier, Lorca, Torrevieja, Granada, Albacete, Murcia, Southampton (United Kingdom) and Cartagena itself.
In the female category the Mar Menor Squalas of San Javier won the tournament.
The rest of the classification was as follows: 2º Fermionas (Granada), 3º CRU Cartagena, 4º CR Lorca, 5º XV Murcia and 6º Torrevieja Tigers.
As for the men's category, the English team Southampton Rugby Club took the victory after the day.
The order of the other competitors was: 2 Gañaners (Albacete), 3 Squalos (San Javier), 4 Bosones (Granada), 5 CRUC and 6 XV Murcia.
Organized by the University Rugby Club Cartagena, the tournament was played in the form of rugby 10, in which a dozen players compete by team.
This is a popular variant, especially in the end of the season, due to its dynamism, lower number of players and duration of matches, which makes viable the dispute of many more matches in a single day.
There was also an exhibition, in the form of partidillos, on the part of the children of the School of Rugby that they delighted the public.
In the stand was the presence of Deputy Mayor Ana Belén Castejón and Councilman Juan Pedro Torralba, who were able to see some matches and deal with players and players from different teams and members of the board and technical team of the Cartagena CRU.
The spirit of play and companionship presided over the day, which saw a good level of rugby.
The day ended at 8:30 p.m., after which came the trophy presentation and a third multitudinous time with all the participants and companions.
The objective of the club is to continue to grow in the development of this annual tournament and to begin shortly to prepare the fourth edition.
