Managing submarine drones, building docks for ports, discovering the first cinematographers, modifying the urban development of the Mar Menor, editing genomes or geolocating mobile devices, among the innovations of the technological fair
The Scientific and Technical Outreach Fair of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), the Engineering Campus, opens its doors on Wednesday to plant and irrigate the seeds of technological vocation, until Friday, among thousands of students of Early Childhood Education , Primary school and high school.
The Engineering Campus this year broke its enrollment record with about 6,300 students, 18% more than last year.
The increase in interest in the Engineering Campus of educational centers throughout the Region has motivated several to be out of place for this edition.
"Each year we receive more requests and we have prioritized the schools and institutes that we had not visited previously," explains José Luis Serrano, Coordinator of the UPCT Scientific and Innovation Culture Unit, who states that 55% Of the enrolled students have been secondary and high school students, while the remaining 45% correspond to primary and child groups.
The thousands of attendees will be able to participate in the workshops and scientific exhibitions of the researchers and disseminators of the Polytechnic of Cartagena, technological companies and students of teachers formed by the Center of Teachers and Resources (CPR) of the Community.
From the experiments that the schoolchildren will show themselves, they draw attention to 'The landfill band' that will touch instruments made with discarded objects, genetic analyzes of humans and the denial of myths about the health conditions of electromagnetic waves.
Of the thirty workshops taught by UPCT students and teachers, most of them are premiered at the 2017 Engineering Campus. Among the innovations, participants at the fair will be able to handle submarine drones, construct docks for ports, discover how Were the first cinematographers, to modify the urban planning of the Mar Menor, to edit genomes or geolocalizar mobile devices by means of wifi or bluetooth.
The Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology - Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness and the Séneca Foundation, which sponsors the prizes to the best workshops among those who will carry out the educational centers whose teachers have been trained with the CPR in technological dissemination and have developed with their students scientific experiments.
