More than 400 students from the dance schools of Cartagena participated this Saturday, April 29, in the celebrations of the International Dance Day with a dance festival that extended throughout the day, defying rain and cold, in The Town Hall Square.
Thus, the multitudinous event began at 11.00 and lasted until 2:00 p.m., to return in the afternoon with more performances from 18.00 to 20.30 hours, in front of a large audience in which the relatives of the dancers predominated, which animated from The first moment.
From 21.30 hours the Professional Gala began, in which the Cartagena dancers acted as Natividad Guerrero, Tony & Vanessa Solano, Ana López, Cristina Valle & Ángeles Luque, Mateo Amante & Ana Penalva de las Heras, Marta & Felix, Patricia Magaña, Ana Siyassa & Natividad Guerrero, Laura del Sol, Hawah Bundaka, Paco López & Kiki Ortiz, Tony and Margot de la Encarnación.
During the gala, the public crowded the Town Hall Square, which gathered around 300 people, who enjoyed dance performances by the hand of great professionals of this artistic discipline in different styles such as Oriental, Flamenco, Classical, neoclassical, contemporary, indie-hop dance or fabric dancing.
Through this program of activities in commemoration of the International Day of Dance, organized by the Department of Culture of the City of Cartagena under the coordination of Margarita Amante and the collaboration of dance studios and schools in the city, it is intended to extend the Dance as a cultural practice among citizens, in a fun way for everyone to enjoy practicing it.
During this week there are also programmed a flamenco show, a talk and the presentation of a book.
All acts and activities are free and open access.
In addition, on Friday, April 28, another of the central events of the celebration of this International Dance Day, a flashmob that gathered several hundred people in the Puerta de Murcia, in front of Captaincy and in which also Participated the Councilor Delegate of Culture of Cartagena, David Martinez.
The multitudinous activity managed to surprise the passersby who were walking in the center of Cartagena on Friday, with the large number of people who participated in dancing in unison.
And it was that, anyone who wanted it could participate in it, since you could visualize and learn the choreography through a video available, from days before, on the Youtube channel of the City of Cartagena.
