The Platform for the Biprovincialidad of CARM "Dos is more", following the motion presented by the Popular Party last Thursday, April 27, 2017 in the Consistory of Cartagena for the removal of public buildings owned by the municipal flag Of the Maritime Province of Cartagena "as representative of our city" and approved in plenary thanks to the votes in favor of the Popular Party and of CT Si Se Puede Abstentions of PSOE and Citizens, wishes to publicly state the following considerations: Plataforma por la Biprovincialidad "Dos es más" is an APARTIDIST organization, not linked to any political party
The Maritime Province of Cartagena exists and is legal, as well as its flag.
The Flag of the Maritime Province of Cartagena does not represent any political party, nor does the flag of Spain;
The use of both we are proud and understand and we want it to be used by anyone who wants.
The flag, as a representation of the Maritime Province of Cartagena, has been and is used in many emblems, shields and anagrams of all kinds (civil, military, sports, among others), even by our organization, without having been Political confrontation.
The Flag of the Maritime Province of Cartagena unites, vertebra and generates a feeling of belonging to it, not understanding how it is intended to ignore a legal teaching that makes feel with more intensity the pride of belonging to this land.
Similarly, we do not understand the prohibition of a legal symbol as a way of politically building a community.
On the contrary, let us remember that, curiously the day after this measure and with Mayor of the Popular Party, the Ayuntamiento de Almería has modified the flag of the Province of Almería integrating the Cross of San Jorge, symbol of the Maritime Province of Almería.
The Plataforma por la Biprovincialidad shows its surprise at how two antagonistic political parties, also in terms of symbols such as flags, have come to a perfect coalition to steal from the sentiment of the cartageneros a legal and beloved banner by all.
In the same way we are surprised by the timid attitude of the two parties that with their abstention have allowed the approval of the motion: PSOE and Citizens.
The Plataforma por la Biprovincialidad urges the four parties mentioned to withdraw the approved motion and join Cartagena, making the flag their own and using it in the same way that we use the Spanish.
Any other attitude is not understandable and we will continue to reproach it with all the intensity and force that is in our hands.
The Plataforma por la Biprovincialidad requests, from the respect of all ideologies, the civil society of Cartagena and its Region, the massive and visible use of the Flag of the Maritime Province of Cartagena.
From the Plataforma por la Biprovincialidad we are requesting the nomination of one of the squares of this city as "Plaza de la Provincia Marítima de Cartagena", wishing that in it we always wave, together with our beloved Flag of Spain, the Flag of the Maritime Province from Cartagena.
