On Friday morning, the First Meeting of the Local Police of the Region of Murcia was inaugurated in the Isaac Peral Hall of the Faculty of Business Sciences of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT).
It is a conference in which the agents will receive talks about the new challenges of the profession and the importance of constant training for the performance of their work, among other topics, by the hand of several experts in the field.
The inaugural event was attended by the mayor of Cartagena, José López;
The director general of Public Safety, Manuel Durán;
The president of the Association of Local Police Chiefs of the Region of Murcia (Unijepol-Region of Murcia), Francisco Javier Martínez;
And the national president of Unijepol, José Luis Carque.
The mayor wanted to thank the election of Cartagena as the setting for this first regional meeting, and in particular the UPCT facilities in front of the "safest port in the Mediterranean, precisely to speak of security."
"This transfer of knowledge that is sure to happen here is very important to tackle new problems" because of the new forms of crime and the new problems faced by citizens, López said.
In addition, he has taken the opportunity to request the suppression of the replacement rates of the Local Police to help solve the "most effective" shortage of this body.
In the specific case of Cartagena, due to the lack of at least 86 policemen and the fact that more than 30% of the local police staff is over 54 years old.
Subsequently, in his speech at the inauguration of this day, he wanted to emphasize the importance of the topics to be discussed and the quality of the speakers, stating that "the exhibition and discussion of the proposed topics will allow us to reach a precise and accurate approach to a Reality that concerns us and concerns ".
During the conference will also deliver the distinctions to Local Police in the Region of Murcia who are working for good practices.
Information stands have also been installed on safety and emergency equipment, speed controls or management programs.
This 1st Meeting of the Local Police of the Region of Murcia is organized by the Association of Local Police Chiefs (Unijepol) and collaborates with the Cartagena City Council, the School of Training and Innovation of Public Administration, the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) And the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.
