The councilman of Youth, Ricardo Segado, has shown his admiration for the Mandarache project, expressing that "the municipality of Cartagena must be proud of these young people who form one of the largest literary jurors that exist and also proud of the Mandarache project, whose national repercussion And international in the field of books and reading has made our city an example to imitate and is singled out by many as one of the most innovative and successful "

The Mandarache Project, in which both prizes are framed, is a reader training strategy created by the Council of Youth of the City Council of Cartagena in 2004 and developed from the work of a promoter group that integrates the efforts of schools, Libraries, bookstores, publishers, parents' associations, animators and associations.

The initiative was honored with the National Prize for the Promotion of Reading 2014 by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, and is obtaining excellent results in its objective of training readers.

In the words of Segado, "the Mandarache project demonstrates that the most desirable thing for the progress of our society is that culture and education always go hand in hand."

It is expected that the winning authors will return to the port city on May 11 to collect their awards from the mayor and the deputy mayor of Cartagena in a ceremony at the Auditorium-Conference Center El Batel, where also, will be presented finalist titles Prize Mandarache / Hache 2018.
