The mayor of Cartagena, José López, has received the 'Latin Metopa', which has delivered the Nautical Club of Santa Lucía for four years, by its president, Diego Varela.
This is a recognition given by the nautical club to "those people and institutions that collaborate or have collaborated with the maintenance of the Latin sail, recovery of boats, the formation of new crews, or the promotion of these boats outside the Autonomous Community "Varela explained.
This year the mayor has been recognized by this method "for the great effort and emphasis that is putting to maintain the indigenous sports, from the bowling Cartagena to the Latin sail, with which it has completely turned", indicated Varela
Lopez has been grateful for this award, an acknowledgment that serves as "a motivation to continue working for the Latin sail and our traditions," and added his intention to continue working to strengthen it and that Cartagena can be proud of this heritage.
In addition to claiming this heritage, he wanted to recite a Marín thunder that recalls the Santa Lucia fishing tradition: "You're a sailor / just like a Nelson talking / and it's because you had a day of manganese loading / a boat in Santa Lucia" .
