Included in the series "Museums", this postal effect has a print run of 240,000 copies and a postal value of 0.60 euros
The Regional Director of Zone 5 of CORREOS, Blas Angel Barbadillo, and the Director General of Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage, Luis Lafuente, presented this morning the stamp issued by the postal company and dedicated to the ARQVA Museum in Cartagena.
The event was also attended by the Director of the Museum, Ivan Negueruela, as well as the top managers of CORREOS in Cartagena.
The National Museum of Underwater Archeology ARQVA- is the institution responsible for studying, valuing, researching, preserving, disseminating and protecting the Spanish Underwater Cultural Heritage.
The new headquarters of the Museum was inaugurated on November 26, 2008, by the architect Guillermo Vázquez-Consuegra at the Alfonso XII pier in Cartagena.
This museum preserves numerous archaeological remains found in the Mediterranean and other seas from Phoenician times until the 19th century, being permanent headquarters of the Cargo of the Mercedes Frigate.
One more year CORREOS contributes with this emission to the diffusion of this museum that, along with the Center Pompidou of Malaga and the Museum of La Rioja, have been the protagonists of the new Premium Pliegos included in the series "Museums".
Cartagena and its stamps
El Faro del Cabo de Palos was a motif in 2007 of a stamp in the series dedicated to Spanish lighthouses The writer, poet and teacher, Carmen Conde, also born in Cartagena, shared a stamp with the vallisoletana, Rosa Chacel in 2007. Also, in 2014, on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the launch of the Peral Submarine, CORREOS issued another seal to join this commemoration.
In May of that same year the International Festival of Singing of the Mines of the Union was reason for another postal stamp that spread Cartagena and the flamenco world-wide through the letters.
In 2016 CORREOS also put in circulation a tourist postmark dedicated to the ARQVA Museum to collaborate with the diffusion of this emblematic museum through the postal shipments.
It should be remembered that the origin of the postmarks is due to the unusability of the postage rate, but over the years it has acquired another value because of its significant impact on philatelic collecting, reinforcing the image and the presence of the Correos stamp.
Murcia through the postage stamps
In the last years the Region of Murcia has carried out more than twenty seals of CORREOS, that pick up Murcia famous as the composer of zarzuelas, Manuel Fernández;
The baroque sculptor, Francisco Salzillo, or the actor, Paco Rabal.
In addition, the typical costume of Murcia, the coat of arms of the Region, the flag and map of the Region, the Jubilee Year of Caravaca de la Cruz, or the seal dedicated to the centennial of the newspaper "La Verdad" have been motives that have generated new Emissions of stamps.
Also the Cathedral of Murcia, the Castle of Monteagudo, Noria de Alcantarilla have been cause of other postal effects.
In 2012, CORREOS launched 30 million stamps in a special issue of five stamps that, under the title "Todos con Lorca", compiles images of the most representative Lorca monuments.
With this release CORREOS joined the actions developed to try to alleviate the effects of the earthquake on this population.
In 2016 another seal was dedicated to the Holy Week of Lorca.
Technical characteristics
The stamp sheet dedicated to the ARQVA Museum, which belongs to the series "Museums", is made of gummed paper, printed in Offset and its format is 74.6 x 28.8 mm.
The postage value of the stamp is 0.60 euros and its circulation of 240,000 copies.
In the image of the stamp can also be seen the letter "ń" printed on the stamps of the Spain Brand.
Along with the stamp CORREOS has also put into circulation some first day envelopes of circulation, aimed at philatelic collecting.
