Navantia president Esteban García Vilasánchez visited the Cartagena shipyard today and held meetings with representatives of the workers and with up to 60 heads of different addresses and operational areas.
In addition to reviewing the current situation of the work being carried out in the S80, it also met with those in charge of Propulsion and Energy, Systems and Repairs.
At the various meetings, the president of Navantia expressed his conviction that the main asset of the Company is its human capital, and made it clear that its intention is to seek dialogue and collaboration with all administrations, institutions and social organizations related to Navantia .
It considers that, through social dialogue, human resources, the industrial relations framework and the facilities must be adapted to the needs of the current market.
He emphasized that the objective of the company is to maintain the industrial and technological capabilities of the company.
To this end, it is necessary to continue to promote results orientation, and to ensure that deadlines and commitments are at the center of the decision-making process.
New Strategic Plan
Navantia's priority is to promote, together with SEPI, the company's Strategic Plan to reinforce efficiency and sustainability, aimed at strengthening the economic areas where its facilities are located.
The generation of jobs linked to the new market challenges is one of the primary objectives of this Plan, which will also include a training program and changes in the digital area that seek to strengthen Navantia's strategic capabilities, improve its products And its business model.
The actions will be promoted to implement the "Shipyard 4.0" as a lever for competitiveness.
Esteban García Vilasánchez maintains that the strategic value of Navantia is the service to the Ministry of Defense and the Navy, for contributing to preserve the industrial sovereignty of Spain in the maritime area of ​​Defense.
In addition, this is also the basis for boosting the international projection of the company and continue to compete successfully in the most demanding markets.
He also stressed that in order to maintain industrial capacity, it is necessary to continue naval civil construction, especially in the products with greater added value, as well as the diversification provided by offshore wind.
