As it has become traditional at this time, as part of the celebrations of the day of the book and the commemoration of the death of Miguel de Cervantes, this Monday took place at the UNED headquarters in Cartagena the fourth continuous reading of Don Quixote , The masterpiece of Hispanic literature.
Under the motto 'Universal Voices' participants on this day have read the passages of what is considered by many to be the first modern novel of history in different languages ​​like English, Sign Language, Braille, Chinese, Japanese, Latin Classical Greek and modern Greek, German, Arabic, French, Italian, Romanian, Russian, Dutch, Ukrainian, Basque, Bable, Galician and a long etcetera, both in person and by videoconference.
This event was attended by the President of the Regional Assembly, Rosa Peñalver;
The mayor of Cartagena, José López;
The Minister of Education, María Isabel Sánchez Mora;
The Deputy Mayor, Ana Belén Castejón;
The Councilor for Sports, Ricardo Segado;
The councilor delegate of Tourism, Obdulia Gómez;
And the Deputy Councilor for Culture, David Martínez, among many other authorities and personalities as well as members of associations and citizens of all kinds.
In the moments before the beginning of the reading, the mayor has attended to the media and has answered his questions, in which he has referred to the rehabilitation of the old Cathedral, SEPES debt and the arrival of the AVE, among other topics.
