The Municipal Group of Citizens in Cartagena today supported the proposal of Finance Minister Isabel Garcia in the Finance and Interior Committee regarding the amendment of the General Budget of 2017, which aims to allocate 3.2 million euros To financially sustainable works.
The Citizens spokesman in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, said that "we are not part of this municipal government but we feel responsible for the municipal budgets of 2017 as they were approved thanks to our support and include up to eight amendments that are more than One million euros in strategic investment works for the municipality, such as the remodeling of Plaza de la Merced, Beatas street, improvement of access to Santa Lucia Hospital, or the adaptation of Torres Park, among others.
Citizens understand that this modification of the budget approved today in the Commission is necessary to release part of this positive remainder, to a large extent by the extraordinary income of Repsol, and use it where it is needed.
Manuel Padin has reported that during the Committee on Finance and Interior have made these investments, the Councilor for Finance has explained that they are developing a Sustainable Investment Plan of the City Council for which they will allocate 2 million euros.
This plan has been raised by the municipal technicians after analyzing the demands of the neighbors of Cartagena in the participatory budgets;
The investment will go to works on pavements (asphalt and sidewalks), lighting and free spaces in neighborhoods and councils.
The rest, 1.2 million euros, will be invested in the renovation of the firm, the median and lighting of Paseo Alfonso XIII, the culmination of the 'roundabout of the submarine', and the asphalted Alameda de San Antón.
