The painter Ángel Mateo Charris needs a summer studio-house and the students of Projects I of the Degree in Fundamentals of Architecture of the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (UPCT) are going to design it.
With this premise starts the third and last exercise that the teachers of the subject, María Pura Moreno and Manuel Ródenas, have entrusted to more than fifty young people of first that study this subject.
In fact, to make the exercise more real, the painter has participated this morning in a class of the subject to explain to the students the needs of said housing, which would be located on a plot in the Bay of Portman.
According to the artist, the supposed house he needs is 'summer', as he has recalled that he already has housing and work study.
"I'm going to propose a lighter house than I need, but I want it to have everything," said Charris, who believes that the plot that teachers have chosen for students to carry out the project is "very good" As it is near the sea.
The housing that youngsters must design must meet a few minimums as there is a staircase and have different rooms, the objective, explained Professor Manuel Ródenas is that motivate students and begin to master the measures of both stays and Of objects of a dwelling and know to reproduce the forms of life of a person in an architectural project.
At the end of the course there will be an exhibition with the models of the different projects.
For Charris, the School of Architecture and Engineering of the UPCT has such ideas is 'fantastic' because it influences motivation and allows students to work on real projects, 'even if the client is false or fictitious'.
It is not the first time that the School of Architecture invites a recognized personality so that the students put their knowledge into practice.
In 2011 it was the Catalan chef Ferrán Adriá who lent himself to this initiative.
