Social Services has presented the program of activities for seniors and people with disabilities for the months of April, May and June organized by the Department of Social Services.
The presentation to the media was carried out by Councilor for Quality of Life, Francisco José Calderón, Councilor for Social Services, Carmen Martín and the president of the Federation of Clubs of Elderly, Maria Beteta.
The new program this quarter, which is intended for about 30,000 euros according to Calderón, seeks to offer a wide range of activities "varied and adapted to the interests and needs of the elderly" in the city, so that "remain Active physically, mentally and socially and ultimately have an active and healthy aging.
For its part, the Councilor for Social Services, which has detailed the content of the program of activities, wanted to highlight the novelty of this edition of the workshop on communicative skills and the workshop on healthy eating.
Likewise, the successful trekking program is held every Wednesday and includes routes such as the Salinas de Marchamalo, the Mining Route of Mazarrón and the Natural Park of La Mata in Torrevieja, among others.
The activities aimed at the 42 senior clubs of the municipality will be organized again, where it is worth mentioning the days of formation of associations of older people.
With respect to the program of stimulation and exercise of memory, directed to 37 clubs of majors, in this edition increases the number of sessions by club, arriving until ten.
In the same way, there will be workshops of free time, cultural weeks, as well as the coexistence of older that will take place in Los Urrutias next June 7.
It is worth mentioning that those people, whose physical and mental limitations do not allow them to travel, will be able to carry out various activities that will be celebrated in residences, day centers and associations of people with disabilities, among which stand out the workshops of nutrition, esparto and gastronomy.
Likewise, the elderly will carry out volunteer work, accompanying people with solitude problems, and will transmit their experiences in various subjects through the 'The Box of Experience' program.
