The mayor of Cartagena, José López, and the Minister of Development and Infrastructures in office, Pedro Rivera, visited this Thursday, April 20, the construction of a roundabout on the RM-311 road in La Palma;
In particular at the intersection with the access to the industrial estate of La Palma, which will give access to the urbanization and the said industrial estate.
On this work, the mayor has said that it is a round "wanted, expected and much needed by the neighbors of La Palma and those who perform their industrial work in the industrial estate" since, as explained the first mayor , The previous one has become obsolete and has already produced several problems of access to the urbanization and to the Tomás Cerro Estate, where different activities and academic courses of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) are carried out.
And, to date, the vehicles must make a dangerous turn, so that the roundabout, which will have two lanes of four meters each, will eliminate the current crossing and will improve accessibility and road safety.
It has been dealt with, according to Lopez, a demand from the local administration, as well as the neighbors and businessmen, so he thanked the Ministry of Public Works for the commitment to this work and congratulated the team led by Pedro Rivera by the drop of more than 40% in the award of the work, which has allowed significant savings.
Thus, he said, "we are going to have a spare of money that will allow the Ministry to increase services and infrastructure provision for the residents of the Autonomous Community," while remembering that during the completion of these works Is going to follow up "strictly" so that "this reduction is not to the detriment of the work".
For his part, the Minister of Infrastructure in function has expressed the commitment of the regional government with road safety for the neighbors and entrepreneurs of La Palma, while remembering the great influx of traffic that receives the industrial estate of the Cartagena deputation, In which there are installed more than 100 companies and by which almost one million vehicles pass to the year, of which about 75,000 are heavy vehicles.
"It was a demand and a necessity," said Rivera, who underlined that with this project, the regional government "has committed to road safety and has opted for the industrial, agricultural and industrial sectors."
