A multitudinous 'flashmob' will kick off the program of activities prepared by the Department of Culture of the City of Cartagena to celebrate the International Day of Dance, an event that is being held around the world every April 29 from 1972 to Initiative of UNESCO.
The delegate councilor for Culture, David Martínez, and the director of the Study of Dance and Movement that bears his own name, Margarita Amante, who also coordinates the program that has been prepared for this celebration, have presented on Thursday the acts that are Will be held between the 28th of April and the 4th of May.
Martinez has emphasized the commitment that has been made from the area he directs "to extend dance as a cultural practice among citizens, to bring it closer to the whole world and for everyone to enjoy it."
IMPULSE AN AGRAVIED CULTURAL DISCIPLINE
The mayor of Culture also wanted to remember that "the panorama of dance in Spain is quite disheartening, too sad," since this discipline has been especially aggravated by the cultural policies of recent years at the national level and the rise Of cultural VAT.
According to the councilman, based on the data revealed by a study of the General Society of Authors and Publishers (SGAE), since 2007 has fallen by about half the number of representations as well as the number of spectators and collection, a situation that considers "A serious cultural impoverishment" to which "must stop".
This reason is the one that has led him to affirm that from the City Hall will not stop doing everything that can be "to recover the activity of the dance in Cartagena and to support it", for that reason he has announced that this discipline will also be Present at the festival 'Mucho más mayo' and that will have its own space in it.
Martínez has also encouraged the public to participate as a way to "reclaim a greater space for dance in culture and life" and has asked "also be a day to demonstrate with art that demonstration and ask everyone That is united to defend and to claim that we must go more to see dance and to treat better the people of the dance ".
For Margarita Amante "doing this day is important" and explained that it is also relevant "the assessment that here in Spain, in particular, is not given" to dance.
"Our art is not an art that once the moment has passed, it is going to remain in a museum kept," he added.
"It's ephemeral and it's a constant job," he added.
