The mayor of Cartagena, José López, visited this morning the new garden area that is conditioned in front of the Sports Palace, at the intersection of Peroniño Street and Avenida de Tentengorra, to check the progress of the tasks .
It is a green space in which materials such as, for example, stones rescued from the rocks of Los Urrutias have been reused, or the land that forms the mounds that compose it, that comes from municipal contractors who were asked to Instead of throwing it to dumps they would deposit it there.
Likewise, 9,000 plants of 45 different species have been installed, many of them native, grouped by colors.
For the adaptation of this park, the City Council has invested around 140,000 euros which have been devoted almost entirely to the purchase of gardening, since the rest of the facility has been made with material and municipal labor.
On the other hand, it should be noted that this is, according to the mayor, "the natural output of the new municipal nursery" of the northern round, which will be officially presented in the coming days, and which will feed most of the parks in the municipality.
Lopez has placed special emphasis, in this line on the importance of optimizing resources.
The first mayor has advanced that this new landscaped space is ready to remove the kiosk that will be in a part of the same and waiting to end with the placement of a biosaludable circuit of exercises, as well as several benches and picnic tables.
Likewise, it is planned to install light and some cameras "to try to care and not deteriorate" the park.
"This is only a part, they are long-term projects, they are not projects to sell today and forget tomorrow, we have to take care of them, we have to work them," said López.
