The eighteenth edition of the Amateur Theater Contest Isidoro Máiquez de Cartagena, which organizes year after year the Association of Teatro Algameca and with which the councils of Culture and Equality collaborate, will this year have six works by groups of the port city, Salobreña, Alicante and Barcelona.
The performances will take place in the social premises of the Neighborhood Association of the Concepcion District from April 24 to 30, all of them at 9:30 pm, and the entrance fee is only two euros per person for each a.
The delegate councilor for Culture and Equality, David Martinez, together with the president of the Grupo de Teatro Algameca in the neighborhood of La Concepción, Nati Fuentes, presented this year's edition of this event already consolidated.
The program of this edition consists of a very varied selection of works, in which there is comedy and drama, among other genres, and also includes, as usual, a solidarity action to benefit the Home of the Good Samaritan, which will be Friday April 28 and run by the Aladroque Theater Group, with the piece 'Free or busy'.
This year the organization of the contest has received a total of 48 works.
It is noteworthy, as a curious detail, that one of them came from Portugal, although it was out of the competition as this contest of national character.
The mayor of Culture and Equality has stressed that "it is very important" that the city of Cartagena has "very clear recognition and the figure of Isidoro Máiquez," the "great actor Cartagena, so famous in the S. XVIII" to which he has Defined as an "enlightened man who breathed new air into the theater and the new way of doing theater."
Nati Fuentes, for his part, explained that "it takes a lot of work but also a lot of enthusiasm" to organize this event.
For this reason he has asked for the collaboration of the people of Cartagena and "to participate in the contest", because thanks to the affordable price of tickets "everyone can see good theater".
Thus, on Monday 24 the Grupo de Teatro Algameca will represent the work 'binding contract';
On Tuesday 25 will be the turn of La Caracola, with 'A night at home ... lady';
On Wednesday 26 comes from Alicante the Hekate Cultural Association with 'The priest, his mother and the father mess';
From Salobreña, the Association The Day You Want Me brings 'House of Dolls';
On Friday, the joint session will be held;
And the group Antzoki Teatteri of Barcelona will play on Saturday the 29th piece 'Romeo and Juliet, a different look'.
The closing ceremony and awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, April 30 at 20:00 hours in the social hall of the Neighborhood Association of Barrio de la Concepción and will be attended by David Martinez.
