The Local Government Board, meeting this morning, under the presidency of the mayor, José López, has approved, among other matters, the call for the granting of free competition subsidies to non-profit institutions, public education centers and associations and Clubs of older people of the municipality.

In particular, non-profit institutions will be subsidized to assist in the provision of social service programs aimed at groups at risk of social exclusion, people with disabilities, immigrants, drug addicts and cooperation projects with developing countries.

In this sense, 482,000 euros will be subsidized to non-governmental organizations that develop social action projects (427,739 euros);

Care and prevention of social exclusion of children in neighborhoods of centers I and II (25,000 euros);

And community prevention (€ 20,000).

Also will be subsidized with 80 thousand euros to non-governmental organizations with headquarters in Cartagena that develop projects of international cooperation.

Other beneficiaries of this aid will be public schools for children, primary and secondary education, which will be subsidized with 50 thousand euros for the acquisition of textbooks.

Finally, EUR 63,150 will be earmarked for clubs and associations promoting actions targeting older people.

The Councilor for Social Services, Carmen Martín, highlighted the collaboration that these non-profit organizations, schools and senior citizens' clubs develop with their department, in the achievement of greater levels of social welfare of the different groups that they attend And the need to continue subsidizing from the City Council its activities.

CENTRALIZED CONTRACT

Among other agreements, the Local Government Board has also approved the adhesion of the City of Cartagena to the State Procurement Center for the acquisition of security systems, paper supplies and tourism vehicles.

This is a system that has been successfully used by the Department of Procurement, directed by Isabel García, and with which it is expected to obtain better economic conditions in the acquisition of these products.
