Lhicarsa's board of directors, which includes Mayor José López and Deputy Mayor Ana Belén Castejón, met this morning to discuss among other issues the formulation of the accounts of this joint venture made up of FCC and the City Council Of Cartagena, to December 31, 2016, as well as the report on the progress of the company.
An ordinary meeting of the council of which the mayor has highlighted among the actions carried out in 2016, the replacement of 155 containers burned between the neighborhood of Jose Maria de La Puerta and the area of Ciudad Jardín.
In addition, the implementation of the pilot project for the installation of the 'fifth container', the organic one, has also been discussed.
According to the mayor, the installation of this container would serve to "open a new horizon in the field of recycling" since the separation of the rest of recyclable waste is simpler and what really complicates the recycling process is the mixing of other materials With organic matter.
"If we were able to separate the organic in a different container, we would get compost that could be used for parks, gardens and agriculture, valuing these wastes and facilitating the separation of the rest of recyclable materials," said López. Project has not yet date, but there is an interest on the part of the City and the company, and will do so in the near future.
In addition, the company has been asked to continue working on its awareness-raising and education campaigns, especially in schools, since this work must be done from an early age.
"Thanks to the children who are educating in the protection of the planet, the parents are forced to collect the paper they have thrown to the ground.
Given the impossibility of changing habits already acquired, we want to ensure that at least children acquire these behaviors that lead us to a more fortunate future "said the mayor.
