MC has filed an appeal for reconsideration against article 3 of the Order of February 28, 2017 of the Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment, which created the Committee for Social Participation of the Mar Menor, announced in the Official Gazette Of the Region on March 4, 2017, following the order issued by the aforementioned Ministry on February 28.

The text shows that, among the powers of this body of participation, are the knowledge on the ecological status of the Mar Menor and its evolution;

As well as the evaluation of the various actions necessary for the progressive improvement of it, contributing, integrating and expressing the social, economic and neighborhood interests, to facilitate that a global perspective in the formulation of solutions is taken into account.

It must also ensure compliance with the Comprehensive Management Plan for the protected areas of the Mar Menor and the rules and plans approved in this area, as well as the policies applied in the Mar Menor.

The reasons for this claim of MC include, inter alia, the lack of correspondence between the composition of the Committee and the economic, social and neighborhood reality of the Mar Menor.
