The Cartagena Speed ​​Circuit will host this weekend the I edition of the 12 Hours of Resistance, a test that will participate cars of more than 15 years prepared for competition and to be held on Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April.
In addition, the access will be totally free for the public, since the entrance is free.
On Tuesday, the Councilor for Sports, Ricardo Segado, the Speed ​​Circuit Manager, Juan José Ríos, and the promoter of the race, Santiago Dongil, presented the event, organized by the Circuit de Velocidad de Cartagena and in which the Town hall.
The test will consist of four categories: Up to 1,600 cc, Up to 2,000 cc, More than 2,000 cc and Diesel.
The asphalt of the Speed ​​Circuit will see Legend cars with more than 15 years old, true jewels that, in addition to enlivening the nostalgia of motor lovers, will also awaken their adrenaline circulating with great speed by the route.
A total of 20 teams of between three and five pilots, coming from the Basque Country, Ibiza, Mallorca, Cantabria, Catalonia and Andalusia, will participate in these 12 Hours of Resistance, although the registration is still open and, therefore, this figure could be Expand yet.
On Friday, March 31 will take place the free practice, and Saturday April 1 will be the big day with the competitive test of resistance that will start at 10:00 and end at 22:00 hours.
The mayor of Sports, Ricardo Segado, highlighted the value of the Speed ​​Circuit of Cartagena and the events that program for the promotion of tourism.
On the other hand it has encouraged Cartagena and visitors to come and "enjoy" also the archeological environment of the city.
In this same line, Juan José Ríos has invited the public to attend because "they are going to see something different".
"Cars are returning to Cartagena," said Ríos, who said that this event will be a "spectacular car race", since the fact that cars are 12 hours rolling on the track without stopping makes it especially interesting.
The promoter of the test, Santiago Dongil, stressed that this "pilot test" comes with the intention of strengthening.
"We want to mark this date in the calendar already for all the years," he said.
"Hopefully for other years there are many more entries and a large volume of public," he finished.
