This year, the Greco-Latin Festival, organized by the IES Jiménez de la Espada, Asdrúbal Cultural Association and the Creta Foundation, with the collaboration of the City of Cartagena, expects to receive in this XXII edition more than three thousand students willing to enjoy classical theater and Of this millenary city, chosen as the ideal setting for its staging.
The program will begin on Wednesday, March 29, with the 'Odyssey' of Homer by the theater group from El Aedo, at 12:00 noon.
In the afternoon, at 17:00 hours, will take place the theatrical performance, 'Contaminatio' of Plauto by the hand of Komos.
The Festival will end on Thursday, March 30, with two more shows.
The first one at 12 o'clock, with the representation 'Antigone' by Sophocles, and at 17.00 hours, 'Cásina' by Plauto both made by the Valencian group Komos.
All the theater plays will have as stage the Auditorio Parque Torres.
The port city has been chosen to celebrate the Youth Festival of Greco-Roman Theater 2017 which, from January to May of this year, runs through the different autonomous communities in order for students from different educational centers to learn and enjoy classical theater.
Teachers and students receive the printed text of the work in their centers, and by reading and studying the work, ensures a greater use of the representation and reading of classics by young people.
This project emerges through the Creta Foundation, Center for Representation and the Study of the Ancient Theater (CRETA), in order to provide a framework for ESO, Bachillerato, Adult Education and University students to attend theatrical performances In which it has a didactic purpose.
This XXII edition of the Festival of Theater Grecolatino will pass through Almería, Granada, Seville, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, La Laguna, Madrid, Móstoles, Pamplona and Cartagena.
