The Church of Santa Maria de Gracia hosts the final of the National Contest of Saetas of Cartagena, Saturday, March 25, in which the five singers Miriam Cantero, Isabel Fátima Gerrero, Juan Francisco Berrocal, Manuela Pérez and Montserrat Pérez will compete. To take the first place in the contest, which will allow this Holy Monday, during the procession of the Virgin of Charity.
In addition, the winner of the contest, which will start at 9.30 pm, will receive a prize consisting of an economic endowment and an original sculpture, created by the cartagenero Fernando Sáenz de Elorrieta.
The cantaores were classified for the final between 15 candidates who participated in the semifinal phase, during the month of February, in the House of Folklore of La Palma.
The National Contest of Saetas de Cartagena has the collaboration of the Cartagena City Council, in addition to the Regional Ministry of Culture of the Region of Murcia, the Marraja Brotherhood, the Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM), the Folkloric Group of La Palma and the Agrupaciones de Our Father Jesus Nazareno, of the Virgin of the Piety, of Portapasos of the Virgin Dolorosa and of the Verónica and Santa Faz.
