Badminton Cartagena UPCT led the Regional Championship of lower and senior categories of this discipline, which was held last Saturday, March 18 at the Mireia Belmonte Pavilion of Cotillas Towers, with eight first places.

The Cartagena team, which has the support of the Council of Sports of the City of Cartagena, exceeded the achievements of Las Torres and Totana (7) Molina and San Pedro (5) and Murcia (1).

In the tournament were 70 players from all regional clubs that played more than 150 matches in the various categories and modalities in which the championship was subdivided, such as Under-13, Under-15, Under-17, Under-19 and Senior , On the one hand, as well as Individual Men's, Women's Singles, Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles and Mixed Doubles.

In the Under-13 category the domination of Cartagena was clear, with the individual triumphs of Nikita Nikitin and Aitana Romero as well as that of Marco Escusa and Iker Padilla in Men's Doubles and that of Nikita Nikitin and Liliya Nikitina in Mixed Doubles.

In Sub-17 the first place in Mixed Doubles was for Antonio Timón and Andrea Conesa and in Sub-19, also in Mixed doubles, was for the cartagenero Rodrigo Orts of Cartagena, that played along with Maria Nieves Brao of Las Torres.

In the Senior category the triumphs arrived in Mixed Doubles of the hand of Nikolay Nikitin and Julia Nikitina, as well as in Male Doubles with the victory of Pedro Caparrós, who accompanied Behrooz Ziaiahmadi of San Pedro.

Also, several players of Badminton Cartagena UPCT rose to the podium like runners-up.

This is the case of Borja Moreno and María Jiménez, of CB Molina, in Mixed Doubles Sub-19;

Aitana Romero and Álvaro García in Mixed Doubles Under-13;

And Nikita and Extremera in Men's Under-15 Doubles.

At the end of the championship, the medals were handed out to the first two of each category with the presence of Regional Federation President Pedro Caparrós and the Councilor for Youth, Physical Activity and Sport of the City Council of Las Torres de Cotillas, Ginés Pérez, As well as the Head of Sports Services of the General Directorate of Sports, Eduardo Segarra.

The next appointment will be this Saturday March 25 in the Urban Pavilion of Cartagena with the dispute of the last and decisive TTR for the absolute category and Sub-15.
