Cartagena has hosted this week the visit of 84 Norwegian footballers, belonging to two women's teams and two men who, from March 18 and until next Sunday 26, tour the streets of our municipality, shop in our shops and enjoy our Gastronomy in bars and restaurants.
The four teams, who are staying at the Cavanna Hotel in La Manga, come daily to train at the Gómez Meseguer sports complex at the Cabezo Beaza industrial estate, where they are playing their pre-season staff, playing preparation matches with several FC Cartagena teams.
This new group of visitors, coming from the Norwegian region of Hallingdal, is getting to know our city thanks to the agreements reached by the Deputy Mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, during the Oslo International Tourism Fair that took place last January.
Castejón came yesterday to welcome them to the city and recalled that the weather of the port city "is ideal so that the teams of countries like Norway, that at the moment have interrupted their competitions by the cold, can continue with their trainings".
"All the Norwegian wholesalers we dealt with at the fair showed us the enormous possibilities that Cartagena offered as a tourist destination for athletes. This is the first group of athletes that visit our municipality and we will continue working to make this municipality a Reference destination for Nordic athletes, "added the mayor.
MORE THAN 30,000 EUROS OF BENEFITS FOR THE MUNICIPALITY
The teams have to travel twice a day from La Manga to Cartagena, for which they have hired a bus company in the area, so that among the 588 overnight stays, daily subsistence, rent of facilities and transportation, is more Of 30,000 euros of benefit for the Cartagena companies.
Next Friday will be their day of rest and they will dedicate to tour the old town of Cartagena, as well as several centers of interpretation of Puerto de Culturas, such as the Barrio del Foro Romano, whose visit is scheduled for 12:00 hours.
