Members of the Cartagena Fire and Rescue Service participated during this Monday, March 20, in the descent of Cristo del Socorro in the Military Parish of Santo Domingo.
Thus, this collaboration dates back to 1963, when Cartagena's fire department collaborated by lowering the Cristo del Socorro from its dressing room to the Throne, in the old Cathedral of Cartagena.
From there, the Christ was transported to the Basilica of Charity for the solemn Mass.
Days later, during the dawn of Friday of Dolores, the image went out in procession, after which the Christ returned to be placed in his dressing room in the Old Cathedral until the following year.
This collaboration by the cartagena fire department has been taking place since that year, although the Cristo del Socorro is currently in the Chapel of Santo Domingo.
In addition, firefighters from Cartagena escort the Christ for more than 20 years, collaborating with the Brotherhood of the Holy and Real Christ Del Socorro, with which this body is twinned.
