Today Tuesday, March 21, the Jury evaluating the eight candidatures presented to the extraordinary prize of Between Strings and Metals, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the creation of this annual contest organized by the Council of Youth of the City Council Of Cartagena for young classical music performers.

The meeting was chaired by the councilor of the Area of ​​Culture and Archaeological Heritage, Sports and Youth, Ricardo Segado García;

The director of the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena, Mª Ángeles Bres García, and the members of the Jury: Gabriel Lauret, Pedro Andrés García, Alberto Castillo and José Manuel Puebla.

This Extraordinary Prize aims to recognize the figure of those winners of the competition Between Strings and Metals that, over the years after the achievement of their award, have demonstrated a remarkable work in their musical trajectory.

Likewise, the excellence of those musicians related to the event whose projection and subsequent career has placed them in a privileged position, both nationally and internationally, deserve recognition.

The candidates who choose the prize are six presented by technicians of the two organizing entities: Youth Department and the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena;

And two others through free call.

Those proposed by the organization are:

Felipe Rodríguez García - First prize of Violin shared in the first edition

Gabriel Escudero Braquehais - First Prize of Piano in the second edition.

Emilio Yepes Martínez - Double Bass - First prize of the fourth edition.

Paola Requena Toulouse - Guitar - First prize of the fifth edition.

Pedro Manuel Beriso Ros- First prize of Piano of the seventh edition

Javier Pérez Garrido - Clarinete - First prize of wind and percussion of the seventh edition.

The two candidates for the open call are:

Isabel Mª Martínez Garrido - Guitar - First prize of the eighth edition.

Arturo Abellán Sánchez- First prize of guitar of the nineteenth edition.

After this first meeting the jury will meet again to fail the prize, which will be made public on May 12 in the closing of the contest in the Auditorium of El Batel.
