The Councilor for Sports, Ricardo Segado, participated in the awards ceremony of the Regional Sailing Federation for the years 2015 and 2016, held on Monday in the auditorium 'Isaac Peral' of the Faculty of Sciences of The Enterprise of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT).

The list of winners included, among others, some cartageneros such as Héctor López, champion of the Iberian Cup Master Snipe in 2015;

Bárbara Rodríguez, third in the championship of Spain sub-16 in the modality Laser 4.7 in 2016;

Juan Manuel Barrionuevo, national champion of J80 last year;

José Coello, runner-up of the Copa del Rey in 2015;

Or Antonio López and Gregorio Belmonte, World Junior Snipe champions in 2015 and third in Junior European in 2016. Likewise, the boat was recognized Malasombra, participant in the regional circuit of Vela Latina.

The mayor congratulated in his name and in the City Council all the winners, as well as the regattas clubs of the coast and the Sailing Federation "for his good work, which has given to the national sail talents of great sports stature" .

A SPORT WITH GREAT ARROIGO IN CARTAGENA

Similarly, Segado said: "Our history tells us, the predilection for water sports is clear and this is evidenced by our daily commitment to sports projects related to the sea."

In this sense, the mayor recalled that recently the Vela Latina has been recognized as Intangible Cultural Property.

SPORTS AND TOURISM

During the gala, organized by the Regional Sailing Federation, awards were given for the years 2015 and 2016, as last year was not held.

Ricardo Segado said that the City of Cartagena felt "honored and proud to celebrate with the Sailing Federation of the Region this festival of deserved recognition in this incomparable framework" provided by the Polytechnic University, where they received, he said, "to the Family of regional candle ".

Likewise, said the councilman that "Cartagena is next to the sport and the events that favor its practice and the tourist promotion of the city."
