An allegory on the gates of the Arsenal has been the proposal selected by the Commission of Interconcejalías, composed by technicians of the Tourism and Culture and Heritage Areas, for the poster of the Night of Museums, to be held in Cartagena on the next 20 of May.
This was announced on Friday, March 17, the Councilor for Culture and Heritage, Ricardo Segado, who recalled that this year's edition will be dedicated to the Year of the Enlightenment, in charge of publicizing "this essential historical period for the Knowledge of Cartagena through its culture, its society and its heritage ".
At the same time, the mayor explained that the City Council, in collaboration with the museum spaces, tourist centers and entities that collaborate with this cultural proposal, will bring the thousands of Cartagena and tourists who visit the city "a varied and broad program of activities Which will complete intense programming. "
In this regard, Segado has indicated that, at the close of the call for proposals, this past Wednesday, March 15, have a total of 57 proposals "where theater, music, dance and circus, among others, Will be the protagonists ".
"ILLUSTRATED"
The design of the poster chosen has been carried out by the creative director of 'La Diligencia Comunicación', Ángel Ronda, who explained that "in the design of the poster, we look for inspiration in the architectural heritage that the 18th century, the century illustrated, left in The city, like the wall of Carlos III, Antiguones, the Arsenal, the castle of Galeras or the one of Atalaya ".
In this sense, Ronda has revealed that "we discovered that the true jewels of the Enlightenment were precisely those great civil engineering projects carried out by the most important engineers in Spain, and that transformed the city socially, economically and culturally."
Thus, he acknowledged, "this concept inspired us and we try to represent it graphically for the cartel."
The poster shows allegorically the engineering project that made possible the construction of the Arsenal, and it will be possible to see "a great work behind another great work".

NEWS OF THE IX EDITION

In addition, another of the main novelties of this ninth edition will be the possibility of making the online registration in any of the routes that have been designed.

The Department of Youth will make available to those users who do not have computers, the different Free Access Classrooms with which the districts and councils of Cartagena, as well as in the Youth Resource Center of Paseo Alfonso XIII.
For its part, the Coordinator of Youth Resources of the Youth Department, José María Lloret, has detailed that a total of 12 routes have been made this year, with different themes and 22 departures in the morning and afternoon.
Thus, there will be proposals that will deal with the Enlightenment, such as 'The Military Arsenal of Cartagena', 'Carlos III and Cartagena de la Enlightenment' or 'El Castillo de la Atalaya', and, on the other hand, Cartagena traditions, such as 'Heritage and cultural landscape of the west of the Campo de Cartagena' or 'Traditions in the Countryside of Cartagena'.

Also, the coordinator of the Department of Youth, Maria del Mar Sánchez, recalled that through the program 'IMPLICA2 Young People Committed in Cartagena', the call for volunteer participation is made, being able to choose all those who wish to sponsor Of singular pieces in the different museums, guides of route, informative advice or logistical support in the different activities that are realized during all the day.
Participants will receive support during that night and an accreditation that specifies the duration and the task performed.
They will also receive a free personal pass, plus a companion, to all the museums and archaeological sites of the city valid for the months of June and July and, in addition, volunteers who study at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) can benefit from ECTS credits.
Last year, the Museum Night had 240 volunteers and, according to Sanchez, "we hope to exceed that figure in this edition."
