This Sunday, March 19, the Grouping of Marrajos Grenadiers will pay homage to Martin Alvarez, war hero of the Spanish Navy who fought with honor against the English in the naval battle of Cape San Vicente.
This recognition has been celebrated by the Brotherhood for thirty years and in the last edition was celebrated the 250th anniversary of the birth of this courageous Marine, promoted after his deed, which has since always given a name to a ship In active duty of the Navy.
The ceremony of tribute to the sailor will take place in the Plaza de los Heroes de Cavite and Cuba from 12:00 hours and will be attended by the second and third deputy mayor Francisco Calderón and Juan Pedro Torralba, respectively.
During the ceremony will be delivered, as is tradition, the distinctive crosses to merit and constancy, and will conclude honoring those fallen by Spain.
The day, however, consists of more activities.
Prior to the arrival at the plaza, at 9:30 am, a mass is planned in the parish of Santo Domingo.
After the act of recognition, there is a traditional offering of flowers to the Virgen del Rosell and visits to the Arsenal and the Guardia Civil barracks.
