L Fire and Rescue Service of the City of Cartagena Friday presented the new fire truck that is available thanks to the agreement signed with the Port Authority, who has acquired this unit and has ceded to the body.
It is a truck Renault Trucks valued at about 300,000 euros, equipped by Iturri, and equipped with a light urban bus and whose compact dimensions and turning radius of less than 13.5 meters allow greater mobility in the urban center and spaces Reduced.
The presentation ceremony, which took place in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, was attended by the Mayor, José López, the Councilor for Public Safety, Francisco Aznar, and the head of the Fire and Rescue Service of Cartagena, Francisco Gómez Ávalos.
A COMPLETELY EQUIPPED TRUCK
This Light Intervention Vehicle is specially designed for the city center and the narrowest streets and incorporates two tanks of 1,400 liters of water and 1,400 liters of foam;
It carries the deposits prepared for any intervention and it is not necessary to carry pumps or deposits separately nor to generate the foam.
This truck has been designed entirely within the Fire Station of Cartagena and other fire stations have already been fixed in its construction since it has been conditioned with the needs of the firefighters themselves.
With its acquisition, a 25-year-old vehicle is removed, which does not have the capacity of the vehicle, thus replacing it contributes to the renewal of the Service fleet.
RESOURCE OPTIMIZATION
"The vehicle that is removed does not go to the scrap but is recycled and will be destined to Infrastructures", announced the first mayor.
"We are not in time to pull but to optimize resources," he commented, and one way to do this is in his opinion that remain in the mobile park of the City Council these vehicles that are already obsolete for the use of firefighters but not for other uses .
López also stressed that "there are few fire stations with more vehicles and more vehicles well designed and specialized than the park in Cartagena."
He also expressed his willingness to try to expand the workforce, for which he recalled that it is necessary for the Ministry to remove the replacement rate in order to be able to re-hire.
The head of the Service, for his part, has said that from the park is working in a van services to use various traffic accidents.
It is still a project "in the future" and its forecast is to be able to complete it this year.
In another line Gómez has indicated that the park is "very well endowed with vehicles" with the 25 units that are counted between trucks and light vehicles.
He has also announced that there is a 40-year-old truck that will also be discharged shortly and that the rest of the fleet is quite new.
"In general our vehicles are in good working order," he admitted.
BURNING OF GARBAGE CONTAINERS
There have been repeated episodes of burning containers tonight.
With the six of the last night and the seven of a few days ago there are already 13 elements of urban furniture that have burned in a week.
Councilor for Citizen Security, Francisco Aznar, has commented that the National Police is working on the case, and added that from the Local Police videos have been video surveillance cameras in the area to facilitate research.
Aznar recalled that replacing burned containers "is a significant economic loss" and has confirmed that the Local Police and the National Police are working "in coordination" in order to locate the individual responsible for these damages.
