The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Tomás, met yesterday with the director of Institutional Relations of the Group Amma Gerontological Centers, Roberto Rodríguez.
In the act, he recalled that the Ministry has increased in 265 places the attention to the people of this group in the municipality.
In Cartagena, up to 406 places of senior citizens were offered in centers with which the Instituto Murciano de Acción Social (IMAS) held concerts.
The Ministry, said Violante Tomás, "has made a great budget effort and last year increased the service of care for the elderly in 265 places, 225 of residence and 40 for day centers, to reach the current 671 places."
"The goal of IMAS is to maintain the current network that has 4,095 public spaces distributed in different points of the regional geography and create new places in those places where there are none," said the minister.
Among the services offered by the IMAS to the group of elderly people, there is also the possibility of awarding an economic benefit, linked to the residential care service, to those who wish to receive financial assistance to partially finance the cost of a private place.
To date, there are 107 benefits of this type in the city of Cartagena.
Residence with Quality Certificate
After the meeting, Violante Tomás explained that her Department recently expanded to 18 places plus the services provided at the Amma residence for seniors in Cartagena, "so that there are already 38 places that the Community finances in this center, for a Amount of 389,000 euros, "adding that" with the recent expansion of places in this center we try to respond to the demand in the municipality of Cartagena. "
