The Utopia Cultural Association, which was born four years ago in Cartagena, will develop a score of activities to promote contemporary creation in the port city during this year 2017, which will begin this Saturday, March 18, with workshops for children and an art festival Sonorous.
This was presented today Tuesday, March 14, Councilor Delegate of Culture, David Martinez, who has been proud of the work of the association and has expressed the support of the City of Cartagena Utopia and its programming for this 2017, Which will combine performing arts, fine arts, expanded cinema or any other manifestation of contemporary thought.
The association, which is located on the Carretera de Canteras and is also the headquarters of the company of visual theater and of objects Onírica Mecánica, constitutes "something very important that must be supported so that more and more people will approach its Productions and know each other, "explained the Councilor for Culture.
In this way, he acknowledged, "the city council can not put it aside."
The association's board is formed by the creator of live arts, Jesus Nieto;
The art historian, Nuria Barahona;
And the artist, Aisa Boaa.
During the presentation, Nieto recalled that the lines of work that Utopia follows are the programming and exhibition of contemporary shows and proposals;
Workshops and training;
And the approach of contemporary proposals to groups of the city.
For his part, Barahona stressed that "finally in Cartagena we can boast of a space that opens to research and groups who want to elaborate and manifest about contemporary art" and recalled that the program opens this Saturday with several workshops for children As 'Sounds what you imagine', which will take place from 16.00 to 18.30 hours, and Nanutopía, which will start at 6.30 pm until 8.30 pm.
Thus, these are two workshops for the creation of sound for children, which has the collaboration of artists Ursula Bravo, Selu Herráiz and Pablo Jordán.
Thus, in Nanutopia, the children who participate will be able to construct artifacts "that give visibility to the sound", in an activity in which "the children have a good time" and that combines art and technology.
On the other hand, 'Sounds what you imagine' tries to work with simple materials, with which the participants can give them artistic form.
The programming of this Saturday will be closed with the Sonic_Utopía sound art festival, which will start at 9.00 pm, with the participation of the artists who have worked in the previous workshops, who will exhibit their works in the facilities of the Association Utopía Cartagena .
In addition to the activities of this Saturday, there have been programmed others of an inclusive type such as the integrated dance show 'Inestable ruedapies' by Marisa Brugarolas, which will be directed to different groups in Cartagena on Friday, April 21, or the event' Tras The mask ', on theater and inclusion, which will take place on Friday, June 2, in addition to various activities that will be distributed over the coming months until December.
"Our idea is not that it is something exclusive for people who are interested in contemporary culture, but open the activities and work with other groups in Cartagena," remarked Nieto, who has emphasized that "Utopia is not a space of Exhibition but a place where things happen and projects emerge. "
Participation in the activities will require prior registration by sending an email to cartagenautopia@gmail.com.
Finally, David Martinez has encouraged all Cartagena to move to the Canteras Road, to the headquarters of the Utopia Association, to enjoy this "contemporary and emerging" art.
And is that, these activities "are not for a few, but for the whole municipality to enjoy the work they are doing."
