The Councilor for Decentralization, Juan Pedro Torralba, will present an initiative in the municipal plenary to request that the Autonomous Community assume the rehabilitation of the three blocks of housing that the Patronato Francisco Franco has in the street Orotava of Lo Campano and cedes its ownership to the City Council from Cartagena.
"This entity should have dissolved long ago and that is what we want, that the Ministry cedes to the City Council the ownership of these houses once rehabilitated, so that we can give them an appropriate use with a social rental scheme," he said. The mayor
Torralba recalled that the situation in which these three blocks of housing are located is "absolute precariousness" and that the people who are currently living there lack the necessary means to deal with all the arrangements that are necessary.
"According to the current legislation, the responsibility to adapt these properties is not of the existing neighbors because the ownership is not in their name.
In any case, and since they are in an area with a high risk of social exclusion, it should be the Housing Counseling who assumes the rehabilitation to give ownership to the Consistory, "explained Torralba.
BARRIADA VIRGEN DE LA CARIDAD
Likewise, the Councilor for Decentralization has requested information from the Inspectorate on housing that is in a similar situation in the neighborhood of Virgen de la Caridad.
"We want to know how deteriorated the façade of this property is, as well as the legal situation of the housing to see if we can proceed in the same way as in Lo Campano," said Juan Pedro Torralba.
