Last Saturday, March 11, the awards ceremony of XXVI Poetry Contest and the X Painting Contest 'Ángel Flores', organized by the Women's Center of the Mediterranean Urbanization with the collaboration of the Department of Equality of the City of Cartagena.
The event was attended by and participated in the awards ceremony of the Deputy Mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, and the Councilor of Transparency and Good Government, Juan Pedro Torralba.
The winner of the Poetry contest was the Fulgencio Antonio López Agüera, from Cartagena for his work 'Sin fe, sin esperanza', for which he won a trophy and 300 euros.
The prize of the competition, endowed with 100 euros, was awarded to Javier Adrada de la Torre, from Madrid, for his poem '18 / X '.
During the gala, both the winning poems and the finalists of the present authors were read.
The reading of the works of the poets who did not attend was in charge of the director of the Miguel Hernández Cultural Foundation, Aitor Larrabide.
As for the Ángel Flores Painting Competition, the first prize went to Luis Pablo Pérez Campos for his work 'Cartagena Siglo XXI'.
The jury awarded the second prize to Emilio Cuenca Pérez for 'Cala Cortina'.
In her speech during the gala, the deputy mayor wanted to thank the work of promoting the culture that organizes neighborhoods and councils, and in particular the Mediterranean Urbanization, which shows "the artistic and cultural restlessness" that seeks to promote "is still alive" in the Neighbors of Cartagena, "that do not conform to the programming of the City Council, but continue to bet on their own contests, which enrich what is offered from the Department of Culture."
