The city of Cartagena has celebrated International Women's Day on Wednesday, a date marked in the calendar for the claim of gender equality, a struggle that is necessary every day and that should never stop until completely eradicated any Form of inequality, but which reaches its peak every March 8th thanks to the multitude of festive acts, but also demand, for a more equitable world.
'Same from the roots' has been the motto that encompassed the events scheduled this year in the port city on the occasion of this day.
It is also the claim that the handkerchiefs that have been distributed to women and men who have approached the various events that have been held during the day were recited.
The activities have started in the morning in the Plaza San Francisco with the dance show 'Mueve-T, Mujer', inspired by the feminine divinity and the ancestral rites in which the woman was the center and boasted dominion and power Endowed with a sacred character.
The performance ended with a choreography full of rhythm accompanied by festive music that has filled the square with a good atmosphere to the point of filling the stage with the participation of the public gathered there, which has joined the final number invited by the dancers themselves.
This activity has been followed by a march that has reached the Plaza de España, where the Councilor for Equality, David Martinez, has read a manifesto focused on the empowerment of women and was betting on a new model of masculinity at the same time as Demanded more resources and education for the fight against gender violence as well as a state pact in the same terms, not forgetting the demand for labor equality between women and men.

Regarding this initiative, the Councilor for Equality, David Martinez, explained that planting these flowers has a symbolic character that represents that, just as plants need care, so should gender equality.
"We believe that a road has already begun, but we must continue to advance," said the mayor in reference to the motto of this concrete activity.
Likewise, Martínez has opted for the awareness and involvement of the male sex in this claim.
"Man also has to compromise for this cause, it is important that there are also men who support and that we continue among all working on that path of equality," he requested.
The councilman has added to the denunciation for the machismo that still exists, the demand for equal employment of both sexes, recognition of the merits of women athletes and has placed special emphasis on solidarity with transgender women before Recent attacks.
