The opening ceremony of the Royal Academy Alfonso X el Sabio was held yesterday.
During the course of the same, developed at the headquarters of the Royal Academy in the city of Murcia, three new scholars were appointed, among them the Cartagena Pedro Fondevila Silva, naval historian, and Luis Miguel Perez Adán, official chronicler from the city.
MC congratulates the Carthaginians Pedro Fondevila Silva and Luis Miguel Pérez Adán, whose activity and research trajectory make them deserving of being part of this recognized institution as corresponding academics.
Pedro Fondevila Silva, Retired Ship Captain, is an accredited naval researcher and author of numerous publications.
He was also director of the Naval Archives of the Military Arsenal of Cartagena.
Luis Miguel Pérez Adán, archaeologist and historian, is one of the four official chroniclers of the city of Cartagena since February 2016. He performs his professional performance as a technician of the Municipal Archives and is a professor at the Universidad de Mayores de la Universidad Polytechnic of Cartagena (UPCT), where he teaches the subject of 'Visual Culture, Photography and History in the Cartagena of the XX century'.
The Royal Academy Alfonso X el Sabio, founded in 1940, has among its aims the development of research in all areas of knowledge, disseminate culture and promote a research activity, as well as being an advisory body of institutions.
The Royal Academy Alfonso X el Sabio obtained, in 1991, the year of its fifty anniversary, the Gold Medal of the Region.
