The rector of the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena, Alejandro Díaz, and the Minister of Culture, Noelia Arroyo, today signed a protocol of mutual collaboration to collaborate in different heritage recovery projects such as Cerro de San José, which will be promoted A contest of ideas to use it, the Mill Plan and the Central Cinema;
Projects for which the Community will contribute more than € 100,000.
"The UPCT provides the most valuable, technical advice of its researchers," said the counselor.
The Cerro de San José is located next to the Rectorate, the Social and Sports Center of the Polytechnic and the old Administrative Building of the City Hall, owned by the University and that you want to reuse as a student residence.
This area is affected by the BIC environment of the hill, one of the five hills of Cartagena and where remains of wall.
The objective of the Master Plan of Cerro de San José, an area of ​​37,000 square meters, is to connect the area with the campus of Alfonso XIII and Muralla del Mar and integrate it into the whole of the city.
Culture and UPCT are already collaborating in other areas, such as the Master Plan of the Windmills of the Region of Murcia, whose authors will be incorporated by the University.
Likewise, researchers from the Polytechnic will advise the Ministry in the rehabilitation of the Central Cinema as a multidisciplinary cultural space in the center of Cartagena.
Likewise, the UPCT also wanted to add to the Plan of Exhibition Spaces that has launched Culture to organize exhibitions of creators of the Region, including its exhibition spaces next to the Port of Cartagena, in the Faculty of Enterprise Sciences, in the Campus Muralla del Mar, around the Roman amphitheater, or in the Campus of Alfonso XIII, in front of the Regional Assembly.
