The Deputy Mayor and Councilor of the Economic Strategy Area, Ana Belén Castejón, today held a meeting with the hoteliers of Cartagena, where she has undertaken to promote a Tourism Promotion Plan for the city using the Cartagena Port of Cultures model.
Cartagena Port of Cultures "has maintained its growth this year," said Ana Belén Castejón, who has announced that in January the number of visitors has grown by 7%, which means that about 800 more people have visited the centers of interception Than in the same period of 2016.
"January and February are usually the two worst months of the year and, despite that, we have maintained the pace of growth, which for us is very positive and corroborates that our patrimonial offer and its promotion work," said the deputy mayor of Cartagena.
However, this increase in visitors is not reflected in hotels in the city, as explained by the president of the Hoteliers Association of Cartagena, Eva Gargallo, as the occupation has fallen during the first two months of the year.
"For this reason, our next challenge is to get more overnight stays and we will launch a promotion plan in collaboration with our hoteliers," said Castejón, who has asked the hoteliers "to present their proposals and I have placed them To a meeting next week. "
In addition, the Councilor for Tourism, Obdulia Gomez, who has also attended the meeting, has taken good note of all the proposals of hoteliers, as stressed the Deputy Mayor.
