Nearly 1,500 runners participated in the XXIV edition of the Half Marathon City of Cartagena, disputed yesterday Sunday and in which José Carlos Caparrós and Wafiya Benali were imposed.
Thus, a total of 1,450 entries were registered in this test approved by the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation, which consisted of two tests: half marathon and 11 kilometers.
Caparrós was the first to cross the finish line in an hour and nine minutes, followed by Pablo García and Juan Ramón García.
For its part, Wafiya Benali took an hour and 23 minutes to complete the tour.
They completed the women's podium Isabel Pelegrín and Marta Garrido.
As for the 11-kilometer mode, Iván Hernández took first place in 34 minutes and 24 seconds, followed by Jose Antonio Corvi and Santiago Bujeque.
As for the girls, the first classified was Sandra García-Pagán, after which Marta Casares and María José Roca arrived.
For the correct development of the test, a wide medical device was set up coordinated by the Sports Medical Center of the City of Cartagena with the support of three medicalized ambulances and Civil Protection posts to guarantee assistance to the corridors.
Thus, the medical device included three ICU ambulances, with doctor and nurse, a doctor and nurse on target, a podiatrist, physiotherapy and massage service with 30 people, three civil protection operatives, health technicians and emergency material.
In addition, the police device counted on 36 agents of Local Police of Cartagena.
In addition, the sports event included volunteers from the Runtriton Club, the Cartagena Marathon Club, the Los Dolores Cyclist Club, the CLIK Photographic Association!
And the Cartagena Athletics Club.
During the award ceremony, the Councilor for Sports, Ricardo Segado, and the presidents of the Athletics Clubs of Cartagena were present.
The test collaborates with the Cartagena City Council, as well as the Universidad Politécnia de Cartagena (UPCT), BMW, Eroski, Cabisuar and Cdegestión.
