The mayor of Cartagena, José López, was present this Thursday, March 2, in the traditional celebration of Ash Thursday of the Brotherhood of the Charity Virgin of the Asociación Cartageneros in Madrid, which took place in the Spanish capital.
Thus, the annual meeting of this cofradía began its actions with the celebration of the Holy Mass, which was officiated by the Reverend Arcipreste and pastor of the Church of Santa Teresa and Santa Isabel, in Madrid, Fernando Fernandez.
Both the entrance and the exit of the temple sounded the chords of the traditional Carthaginian marches and, at the end of the Eucharist, in front of the altar dedicated to the patroness of all the Carthaginians, Salve Cartagenera was sung by all the attendants, who filled the temple.
The mayor moved from Cartagena to Madrid accompanied by the Brother Major of the Holy Hospital of Charity, Jose Vera, and the Coordinator of Communication and Transparency of the City Council, Angel Tarifa.
All of them were received by the Brother of the Brotherhood, Antonio Berrocal, who was accompanied by the members of the Board.
After the religious celebration, attendees attended the brotherhood dinner held in the halls of the Gran Hotel Velázquez, at a ceremony attended by about 70 people.
During the dinner, a video was screened with images of all the parades of Semana Santa Cartagena, and after the same, both the Brother Mayor and the mayor of Cartagena made a few words of thanks.
