Citizen participation in scientific research projects is the theme of the next seminar organized by the 'Cartagena Piensa' cycle organized by the Cartagena City Council together with the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (UPCT) on 10 and 11 March.
Also known as citizen science or community science, will be the subject to be addressed in the seminar 'Citizen participation and collective research' to be held in the Hall of Degrees of the Faculty of Business Sciences of the UPCT and to be taught by the Multidisciplinary group of the Universitat de Barcelona OpenSystems through a series of workshops that will address a new vision on science through art and citizen participation.
OpenSystems builds research groups, along with the collaboration of diverse social agents, to address concerns and issues mostly located in urban environments.
Committed to this emerging discipline, they will visit Cartagena to bring public science to the public through two sessions, which will take place on Friday, March 10, from 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm, and on Saturday, March 11, from 10:00 a.m. 1:00 p.m.
The seminar "Citizen Participation and Collective Research" will be given by physicist and group leader of OpenSystems, Josep Perelló, and the project manager, Isabelle Bonhoure, who will discuss with the audience the concerns and the use of strategies on this Thematic
Participation is totally free with prior registration, as the places are limited.
The career of the OpenSystems group has allowed them to be one of the founders of the European Association of Citizen Science and coordinators of the Office of Citizen Science in Barcelona.
In turn, the project has received numerous awards for its work in knowledge transfer.
