Don Carnal burned, and Lent came.
The delivery of prizes and farewell Don Carnal put an end to the Carnival celebrations in Cartagena this year.
A day that began with the parade of carnival groups, chirigoteras and people awarded from the Plaza del Ayuntamiento to the Central Pavilion Wssel de Guimbarda, novelty of this edition.
After the arrival to the pavilion of the winners, the awards ceremony began for all categories: adult and child queen, choreographic groups and chirigotas.
The mayor of Cartagena, José López, the deputy mayor, Ana Belén Castejón and the Councilor of Festivities, Juan Pedro Torralba, accompanied the president of the Carnival Federation, Carmen Sánchez, and his vice president, Eduardo Pignatelli, in the task of delivering each One of the prizes.
Don Carnal and Dona Cuaresma were in charge of enlivening the gala in which also performed the singer Salva Ortega.
The acts inside the pavilion ended with the tasting of don Carnal balls and donut cakes of Lent before going outside for the climax of the day.
Between flames and fireworks the figure of Don Carnal was finished ashes and the carnival of Cartagena was dismissed until next year.
The party and the frenzy gives way to sobriety and abstinence.
